AI policy
Polity uses AI in two places: answering questions from Polity's records, and writing short summaries of records. Both are labelled as AI.
- Answers are based only on records retrieved from Polity, and every fact in an answer links to the record it came from. If the records don't answer the question, the assistant says so.
- The assistant does not rank politicians, recommend candidates, give voting advice, predict results or repeat unsupported allegations.
- AI never overwrites a verified fact. Summaries are regenerated only when the records behind them change.
- Questions are logged without your account or IP address so the quality of answers can be reviewed.
AI can make mistakes. Always check the linked records.
